From our house to yours

Tips to Help your Child Memorize Scripture

I saw this on a friends blog and thought it might come in useful for us so I am republishing it here - all credit to Nicole on this:

Tips to Help your Child Memorize Scripture:

use a puppet

make a recording

use a visual aid (like a fishing rod for “fishers of men”)

write the verse on balloons

sing it to a familiar tune (do you know how many verses can be sung to Mary Had A Little Lamb?)

draw an illustration (better yet, have the kid draw it)

make a puzzle (print out the verse and cut it up into several pieces...have the kid put it back together)

hide the words on slips of paper around the room

pass a ball from person to person...the ball-holder has to say the next word in the verse

make up hand motions to go along with the words

write it on a whiteboard and progressively erase one word/phrase at a time

Repeat, repeat, repeat...

Hey there

I tried posting on the blog, but it wouldn't let me.    How are things going?  Well....*jumping up and down*  I put in for a transfer at our warehouse in Portland, OR and got it!  Woo hoo.  I leave in two weeks, and hope to be up in that area on November 3rd.  I'm packing as much stuff as I can into my mustang and taking off driving up there starting the 2nd.  So cool so cool.  I can't wait to get out of So. Cal and go somewhere I can actually afford the rent, and maybe even be able to buy my own house some day.  *sigh*  ha ha ha.

Just wanted to say a quick hello and all that.  Hope all is well, and if you can post something on the blog for me that would be great.  Not sure why it wouldn't let me.

Take care.
Christy

Nice to be in touch with the new generation Rawhidians.

I'm slowly catching on to the blog and google group for those grads from Rawhide. I know having graduated in '79 it makes me one of the old timers. Hopefully this could build to include grads from many of the years. I'm curious as to what year was the final year for RVC in California? You may or may not know the Chowns are considering re-starting RVC in Texas. They have acquired thier accreditation with the State, and are getting ready to move forward with thier plans. The Chowns publish via pdf a monthly newsletter called the "C Quarter Circle Ranch News". They also have a new email address cquarter@kiowaonline.net I see from your postings you have had or are thinking of some form of reunion. Is this just for your class, or for a bigger crowd? I was a part of the reunion planning committee for the reunion that happened 14 or 15 years ago. It was a fun time. So it's available, my email address is james.tanner.sr@gmail.com .

New Graduate website

Hi all,
Just wanted to let you know that Shelley Simmons a graduate from '82 has started a site there isn't much up yet, but it could be another source for contacting people, I guess I need to update the description of our page so that people can find it by googling. Hope you all are well

Reunion and Job

I too would like to hear all about the reunion. What else did you guys do? I can't believe JD is still alive. Wow! Did you get to see Colburn too? How is Mo doing?
I got a job. Not one that I wanted, but it is a job. I call it my "teeny bopper" job. I work at a place that makes smoothies.....called Jamba Juice. They have great smoothies. The only place I could find that would let me work around Jasper's school schedule. They are great people!
School is going good. Not too much homework at the new school. That is nice. I was getting tired of doing homework every night. He is now in 3rd grade. They get to go to a planetorium this friday for a field trip. I think that would be a lot of fun. That's it from this neck of the woods.
